A Letter from Innovation Senior Management’s Founder & CEO, Pilar Carvajal (August 15)

To Residents and Families,

Last Friday, the first of four meetings of the “Governor’s Task Force on the Safe and Limited Re- Opening of Long-Term Care Facilities” was conducted. AHCA Secretary Mary Mayhew facilitated the meeting and presentations. During the meeting, comments were made that guidelines developed should be voluntary, not mandatory. Outside visitations were a step that could be made sooner than later due to the virus being less transmissible outdoors than indoors. We will begin to investigate creative means for connecting residents and family members. For example, there may be a safe way for families to see their loved ones outside the community. We will be looking to create spaces for residents without Covid-19, to participate in outdoor visitation sessions with their loved ones, such as in courtyards, on patios, or even in parking lots. Communities will have to ensure all actions preventing Covid-19 transmissions are followed.

We will keep you informed on our next steps as the task force provides guidance.

Warm regards,

Pilar Carvajal,
